It has happened.
And I'm FREEKING FREEZING!!!
I have this thing where I hate being cold. It's the worst feeling for me. And now that we don't live in an apartment with radiators I find it much harder to stay warm. I must always have slippers on or my feet become feetsicles. I've taken to wearing socks to bed. I have a hoodie on permanent position on the floor by the bed. It never comes off while I'm in the house.
I wore a sweater to work today.... that is just crazy. Usually I am way too warm to stand them but it stayed on all day.... and I didn't overheat until I got to Costco, where they don't let their employees freeze.
I am so loath to turn on the heat. I have to PAY for every degree warmer the house gets. Most of the time it's around 15. Apparently that is now way too cold for me. Go figure. I should knit more but I feel so tired when I get home that I can't.
Le sigh
At least I am married to a furnace. That helps with the bill...

Book Book
I both love and hate the hubby sometimes. Let me explain...
So he bought me a gift yesterday. Now most of you will think, "but isn't that a sweet gesture?" and to you I will reply "yes, but you must look at the nature of the gift." Edible gifts are always appreciated. I eat them, no extraneous problems. Money, I spend it, Clothes, I wear them. Jewelry, I wear it also. But this gift was given with no though to the ensuing consequences. You see dear blog I have more problems than just randomness. I also have CSR (Can't Stop Readingitis). I can't stop reading. Once I start a book I am compelled to finish. I must know the end. It's contagious. It takes many repetitions of reading books before I am able to put the book down at a reasonable hour. Most times I start a book you will see me bleary eyed and exhausted the next day. I stop reading in the wee hours of the morning because I CAN'T STOP! I try. I look at the clock and say "Jen, it's high time you stop reading." Then the other part of me says "Oh... what's one more chapter?" and thus the bargaining begins. Usually with me relenting to sleep after Mr RTD has rolled over twice and said "you're STILL up??"
The other problem I encounter while reading is CHY (Can't Hear Youitis) I can't hear when people are talking to me. I usually hear mumbling and then my name will pop out and I go "Hmmmm?" Can't hear a word. I'm so immersed in the book that I lose touch with reality. (more then usual you understand) I love living in worlds where magic and dragons exist. I want to run with animals that talk and see other world's. So I completely detach from the NOW and live in the book. The hubby doesn't like this feature of my book reading. Something about paying attention to your significant other. I should probably look into that.
Back to the gift. I returned from voting and I was given the new Rick Riordan book "The Lost Hero". The series that is following the Percy Jackson books. I didn't read the last one of those yet so I put off starting this book. I only lasted 20 minutes. I started reading at 8ish? And I lost time. I looked up and it was 930. I lost 1.5 hours and it only felt like minutes. And I had 1/3 of the book to go. Fast forward 30 minutes and I was down to 1/4 of the book. The H called bed time. So I BOOKED IT!!! teeth brushed and in bed in record time. I got 2 more chapters in before he got to bed. And then it happened.
He told me to stop reading.
First I laughed. Then I whimpered, piteously.
I have not NOT finished a new book in longer than I can remember. I kept up the whimpering for about 5 minutes. Then I said "how bad can this be?" I took my glasses off and shut off the lamp.
I still had the book....
In my arms....
I cuddled it.
H laughed at me and then made me give him the book. I actually let it go, and fell asleep. I did it. For the first time in my entire memory I didn't finish a book in the same day that I got it. I feel accomplished. I just finished the book. And now I have to wait for the next ones to come out. I'll make sure to buy the other ones earlier so I can finish them before bed.

Calgary...
I go there sometimes. This time to visit friends and to present to the new teachers. I got a free lunch and bought some material for pajama pants! they have french penguins on them. Bright magenta. Can't wait to sew them.
I have to find a way to make more time for knitting. I'm trying to save money for a house so I'm trying to use thing up in the house already for entertainment. Finishing Video games I already own, sewing fabric that's been around forever, knitting wool that's already bought etc. So far I have not succeeded as well as I had hoped. I won (by I, I mean WE) a 50/50 draw recently and thought "hey I should buy some wool". I was very proud that I only purchased $40.00 worth when I had over 100 in the wallet. Most of that went right back in the bank. I'm going to try to make way more food in the next months to come. Buy some more ziploc freezer containers and make loads of home made meals. The hubby will love me more. (I hope)
Chili is on the menu tomorrow. And I have to go figure out how to cook a ginormous spaghetti squash.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!
They are everywhere!!!!
I nearly ran into one wednesday morning. I just saw the big black outline of it's massive body on the car lights coming at me and then WHOOSH! it disappeared, for my lights were not powerful enough. I decided a good ol' stomp on the brakes was in order, so I did. By the time I got to where I'd seen the moose, it was nonchalantly munching grass in the ditch. I went 80 for about 10 Km's.
Today... a moose was Schmucked on my highway about 30 minutes after I had driven by. I bet it was that same moose. Stupid animal. At least it could have waited for me to shoot it instead of getting splattered all over the road. And boy was it splattered.
In other news, I have found out that Hutterite cookies are Awesome! Take 2 home baked chocolate cookies and smush some very awesome cream cheese icing in the middle and you have a cookie sandwich. I ate 2 today. The other 2 are for the boys.
So much sugar.
I got to eat with the whole colony today. They had a late lunch because they butchered 3000 of their laying hens ($1.00 each don cha know?) this morning. I felt quite honored. We had chicken for lunch (hehe) and home made potato salad and coleslaw. MMmmmmm.
I have to to go Calgary tomorrow. Someone thinks I'm intelligent enough to give a talk to first year teachers. I hope the Calgary teachers like me as much as the Edmonton ones did. I'm getting my travel expenses back, which is nice. And I get to visit with my old neighbours :) I'm actually breaking out the suit for this presentation. I wore jeans and a hoodie to the last one. I should probably look like I'm supposed to be there. My session is right after breakfast so I can be home by lunch. Then I'm planning to make some awesome eggplant parmesan and spaghetti squash.

Police (including lights and sirens!)
Today was an interesting day at school. I invited the RCMP Corporal of the local detachment out to show the kids some Evidence and Investigation stuff. I conveniently forgot to tell them she was coming in the first place. (just in case she couldn't make it)
It was very amusing when one of the older girls came by to collect a younger sibling to help out with the sheep and she commented that "the police are here." Much excitement ensued and I was very proud of the respectful manner the kids showed. I had my mug dusted for prints, along with a few sheets of white paper. One of the boys got to have his hand print dusted. He was quite excited about that.
I got more fresh bread today. And the THIRD turkey meal in 4 days. It was turkey with potatoes and stuffing (and gravy) for lunch. I can't escape.
I did find out, however, that I didn't gain as much weight as I thought. Maybe it's waiting a couple of days to appear. I hope not.
Well back to knitting. I've got some things to finish before I go to Calgary for the weekend.

Survival!
I made it through two carcasses of Turkey! It was glorious. As was the kit-kat cheesecake my Aunt made. We finished off the night watching the Calgary/LA game on tv and getting score updates on the Edmonton/Florida game.
I just saw the best shawl EVER!!! want want want. Jared Flood (brooklyntweed.net/blog) makes me want to spend oodles of money. I want to make all of his patterns, but the cost alone for the patterns makes me pause. I've been trying to bash out some scarves out of fun fur. I've made 2 this weekend. Quite a lot compared to my usual speed. I finished a blue fun fur scarf, for donation, yesterday and then started on and electric pink one from Grandma G's wool. My Aunt M has claimed it already. It should be finished today, if I can get all of my marking done.
I have so much to do. Mark, go shopping for food (so the Hubby doesn't starve), Wash some clothes, probably clean the bathroom, put the wool away from it's nice spot on the floor and finish knitting the pink scarf and the stocking. Stocking is due before christmas, and the boss lives in Calgary so I'm hoping I can deliver them :) I know it's not going to happen but I can hope.
I'm going to Calgary this weekend. I have to present again. I hope I get as many people as I did last time. I'm going to make sure I have a handout for them. That was one of the suggestions I got.

Attack of the Turkey - aka Thanksgiving
This weekend marks the time where I will once again gain 5 pounds and then madly try to lose it, without working out. I eat less during the week and POOF no more fat.
So far my ingenious plan has worked.
I only have 2 dinners to go to this weekend. My mother and my Aunt are both cooking huge dinners. I supplied all the turkey's through my job at the Colony. They will be tasty.
Dinner #1 - Mom
I suspect this dinner to be half traditional, half not. The first Elk tag of the year was filled on Thursday and I requested Elk ribs for dinner, with my mom's home made BBQ sauce. So I'm getting them :) Whoot! The Brother likes his traditional turkey so we're also having that. Stuffing and the works. I'm going to try to not eat too much, and I WILL FAIL!!! Food is just so delicious. I'm eating left over veggies right now!
Dinner #2 - Aunty M
This will be a huge dinner. There will be at least 12 people there, with the potential for 10 others to show up. They got the biggest turkey from the colony. Everyone brings a dish though, so food panic doesn't set in. Aunty D is making her famous Pies! I also can't wait to see my cousins. It's been a long time.
I am thankful for:
1. My family (love you Mr Hubby!)
2. My friends
3. My (so far great) Health
4. My Job (I Has one!)
5. Yarn (I was even told my stash isn't THAT big by my friend yesterday. She's my favourite)
6. Puppies
7. My Home
8. The interwebs!
9. Pumpkins
10. Baklava
All I can think about now is MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM BAKLAVA!!!! *drool*
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I also hope you're prepared for the onslaught of Christmas after it's over. I am so grateful I don't have Television. The ads would drive me crazy. (more than I already am)

What is RTD and Can You Has it?
RTD is the acronym of Random Thought Disorder. I invented it myself after my first Ed Psych class in university, because I have it. Nothing else seemed to fit just right.
I have worked very hard to combat this disease, but alas here I am with Random Thoughts overtaking me at all times. It is very hard to hold one's own in a conversation when any minute a new thought can come into your head. Like "What does that yarn Reallly feel like?" when looking at someones' sweater. Or "I thought that car only came in standard colours?" when you're driving down the highway. It gets really awkward when you're talking to someone in your head and you say their name while talking to someone beside you.
My husband told me I should write a blog. He seems to think this will cause productivity during my computer use instead of "wasted time" as he calls it. Mostly I'm a slave to Facebook and it's many user games. Slowly I will over come.
RTD ALERT! -When I win the lottery some knitters will be very happy as I'm planning to spend a whole day at my LYS (local yarn store) paying everyone's bill.
So I am a teacher of 3 years, a wife of 3 years (hmmm coincidence??) I love the cute, the furry and the woolen. I am a crafter of many genres and years. My favourite at the moment being knitting. I also read quite voraciously, which contributes to the RTD. I love video games with RPG's topping my favourite list. (hmm RTD, RPG, me thinks I see a connection!) I listen to all genres of music.
I hope you will join me in letting go of the Randomness of our lives, to find some order in this chaotic place we call earth!
Or not.... sometimes the random is fun. *insert smiley face here*
